Georgetown Women's Club Soccer

About Us

In 2001, two Georgetown sophomores realized how much they missed playing soccer at a competitive level.  After working through the red-tape of becoming an official university-sponsored team, Pilar O'Brien and Isabel Mueller formed the first-ever Georgetown University Women's Club Soccer Team (GUWCS).  Practicing at Georgetown Visitation High School (their alma mater) on 35th Street and organizing games against a few local universities, Pilar and Isabel were able to muster up a real club team by the end of their sophomore year.

Now in our 7th year, the Women's Club Soccer Team has grown into an incredibly popular, skilled, and committed team of girls who can't live (or play) without each other.  Each year, we select around 30 girls to play both a fall and a spring season.  In November 2005, the team attended the Northeast Intercollegiate Recreational Soccer Association Regionals tournament for the first time.  In November 2006, GUWCS finished 2nd in their Regionals bracket.  And we're only getting better.

The team typically plays against local universities such as George Washington, Catholic, University of Maryland- College Park, University of Maryland- Baltimore Campus, Loyola, Princeton, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, University of Delaware, Villanova, Westchester, Salisbury, Drexel, and The College of New Jersey.  We are in the process of setting up our very own Women's Club Soccer league to answer the high demand of club soccer competition among East Coast universities.
