SJP is an advocacy group on campus that educates about the Palestinian/Israeli Conflict. We believe that justice must be achieved for peace to occur in the region. SJP welcomes individuals of all ethnic and religious backgrounds to join in solidarity with the struggle for justice in Palestine. SJP also hosts cultural events that promote Arab and Palestinian culture on campus.
The 2006/2007 School Year has started off great. We have built on the energy of the Palestine Solidarity Movement Conference hosted on campus last spring.
So far this year we have:
-Hosted a Candlelight Vigil to commemorate the lives of those killed this past summer.
-Had a social "Arabian Nights" Hookah and food night
-Had our first "Welcome to Life Under Occupation Campaign" to educate about the meaning of "occupation."
-Had a movie Showing of "Paradise Now
-Sold out of new batch of T-Shirts -"Hoyas Stand for Justics... Hoyas Stand for Palestine"
-Had a movie showing of "Occupied Minds"
-Hosted a Ramadan Iftar benefit with the Muslim Student Association
-Bowling social with George Washington University
-Had a screening of Arabs and Terrorism with the Driector Bassam Haddad
-Raised over $2000 for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund at the first Annual Palestine: A Celebration of Culture and Heritage Gala which sold out 5 days prior to the event.
-Had bi-weekly campaign called "Welcome to Life Under Occupation"
