Georgetown's MENA forum (Middle East North Africa Forum) was formed in 2006 in order to provide a venue for Georgetown graduate students to present and debate policy-related issues in the region.
Its 100 active members are comprised of graduate students from the School of Foreign Service. MENA depends upon the extensive experience and knowledge of its members to inform lively debates on timely topics. We invite scholars, diplomats, and policy practitioners from the DC community to serve as panelists in these discussions. Our primary goal, however, is to provide an opportunity for students to share and refine their viewpoints while honing their skills at presentation, argument, and summitry.
In keeping with common practice in Washington, MENA does not charge for entry to its events and provides refreshments to its participants. We aim to keep our expenses modest while creating a welcoming environment for our members, visitors, and presenters. We are entirely dependent on outside support to provide these amenities. MENA welcomes opportunities to cosponsor events, allowing our members the opportunity to engage with groups that share an interest in the region.
