Description of Executive Board Positions for 2009-10 School Year
President: The public face and chief executive of the organization. The President is responsible for carrying out dialogues for other clubs, University administrators, alumni organizations, the Athletic Department, and other persons or groups of interest. The President is also responsible for managing day to day operations, meetings, agenda, and the mission of Hoya Blue.
Vice President: The vice president assists in and shares many of the same duties as the President, including acting as a go-between between Hoya Blue and the Athletic Department. In the past, the Vice President has run meetings and contacted bus companies about road trips. The Vice President assists the President in all matters needed, and succeeds the President if the President is unable to perform duties.
Treasurer: The treasurer's primary function is to develop and manage the club's budget. A budget is created at the beginning of the fiscal year based on historical data and projected expenses and revenue streams. Throughout the year the treasurer will preside over and record all financial transactions to ensure that the club stays on or ahead of budget.
Personnel Officer: The Personnel Officer is responsible for keeping roll of members of Hoya Blue, determining who shall be voting members of the organization, interacting with and organizing volunteers, and communicating information about the membership of Hoya Blue to the executive board. Personnel also takes attendance at all meetings and events for Volunteer Rewards purposes.
Communications Officer: The Communications Officer is responsible for drafting and disseminating all group information to the Hoya Blue list serv, as well adding and/or deleting members of the Hoya Blue list serv. The Communications Officer is also in charge of responding to inquiries to the Hoya Blue gmail account, and taking care of matters that arise. The Communications Officer in 2009-10 will also manage the website and the organization's various other electronic media productions (like facebook, twitter etc.)
Events Officer: The Events Officer is responsible for all event programming that is within the mission and goals of Hoya Blue, including road trips, pre-games, and special events. This includes communication with University officials regarding events, and funding for these events in cooperation with the Treasurer. The events officer is also in charge of coordinating game day atmosphere, which includes creating and publishing cheer sheets for basketball games.
Promotions Officer: The Promotions Officer is responsible for all ways of promoting Hoya Blue events and games within the goals and mission of Hoya Blue. Promotions include flyers, banners, and activities during games and events that encourage school spirit and a strong, collegiate atmosphere.
All members of the Executive Board are expected to attend additional planning meetings, coordinate general meetings, and work together in person and through phone and e-mail to ensure direction and leadership for Georgetown school spirit and all members of Hoya Blue.
