Dear Studbeast,
As you must know by now, it is truly an exciting time for the Georgetown Club Baseball team. The team looks to build upon its recent success and capitalize upon its unprecedented interest level. In addition to completing an above .500 campaign in 2008, we have launched a new website (http://studentorgs.georgetown.edu/baseball) and hosted a wildly successful open bar event at Rhino last spring. All of these have contributed to an influx of talented, motivated young ballplayers.
This spring we will again compete in the NCBA’s District III of the expanded Division 2, a league in which we hope to not only be competitive, but be dominant. Other teams in the division include Mary Washington, Virginia Commonwealth, Maryland and Radford. During the fall season, we have 3 weekend series lined up, against the likes of George Washington, Maryland and William & Mary.
However, as you all know very well, in order to grow as a program, certain resources, such as equipment, transportation and uniforms, are required. Obviously, the facilities and resources available to Club Baseball at Georgetown are extremely limited. For this reason, we need your help as alumni. Many of the very successful club teams, including those here at Georgetown, have a vibrant and dynamic alumni network that helps support the team. What better way to give back to Georgetown than by contributing to the Club Baseball team? A monetary donation, in the form of check or cash, of a mere $25 would be ideal and help us tremendously. However, any kind of contribution would be appreciated.
Feel free to email me or call me back if you would like to contribute or even to simply check in. Club Baseball would love to hear from past members of the team and construct a network of ballers. We are putting together an alumni email list and if you would like to be included please send me an email at jtb36@georgetown.edu. The list will keep you updated on the status and progress of the team with the witty anecdotes and epic stories included. I look forward to hearing from you.
