The mission of Students of AMF is to help students to cope with the psychological, social, spiritual, and academic difficulties associated with having a sick or deceased loved one by providing a university-sponsored organization utilizing peer-support, service, mentoring, and community outreach. AMF supports grieving students and empowers the entire community to participate in service projects to fight terminal illnesses by utilizing four support services: 1) the support group guides these students through their grief journey in a safe, comfortable and uplifting setting; 2) the service group, which is comprised of non-bereaved students, organizes and participates in community service projects to raise money and increase awareness about the very illnesses that took their peer’s loved ones; 3) the Angels program, which is comprised of outstanding faculty members, provides mentoring to each member of the support group; and 4) the SAINTS program, Students of AMF Involved in Nearby Teen Support, provides mentoring and support to grieving children outside of the Georgetown community. |
